Malahide Dental Care has a ‘No Cavity Club’ to promote healthy teeth and gums for children
Our ‘No Cavity Club’ is for all patients aged 2-12 years of age who have no decay present at their routine dental exam.
With parents permission, the child’s name is put into a draw. At the end of the month one random name will be drawn and that child will be our ‘No Cavity Club’ winner!
Don’t worry if we do find a cavity, once it is fixed, the child will be entered into the draw. The winner will be invited to our surgery to receive their hand picked gift appropriate to their age and interest. We will post the winner’s picture on our website and Facebook page.
We have discovered that this program works to encourage children to focus on their own dental health and prevents future dental problems down the line.

Top Tips For Healthy Teeth
• Teeth should be brushed twice daily, after breakfast and last thing before bed
for approximately 2 minutes.
• Spit but don’t rinse out. For better results tooth paste should be left on teeth.
• Mouthwash can be used at another time of the day eg. after snack but not at the same time as brushing.
• Teeth should be checked by a dentist at least once every year from 2 years old to promote a healthy smile and happy dental patients.
Diet Advice
We would never ask you to cut out all treats but with a few changes our teeth can be much happier
• Avoid naughty nibbles between meals.
• Replace snacks with healthy alternatives.
• Keep treats to mealtimes.
• Eat treats all in one go, not slowly over time.
• Avoid treats that last a long time eg. jellies and lollipops!
• Raisins stick like toffee – BEWARE
• Milk and water are the only really “tooth-safe drinks”. Even “no added sugar”
juices contain natural sugars. Careful!
• Sugar-free chewing gum is great for making saliva. Saliva is great for teeth!
